The jay (Garrulus glandarius) is a forest bird that looks for ripe acorns in autumn. Cautiously, it digs acorns to eat them in spring. However, always some acorn remains in the soil to germinate. Therefore, the jay is an acorn planter that contributes to disseminate oaks, evergreen oaks and kermes oaks.
